Tips from the Dev Team

Did you know there are 9 developers working tirelessly on the Ripl app?

From the 2017 World Pinball Champion, to a fanatical burning man attendee, an autocross racer, our fearless founder, and everything in between, our team of developers is what makes the Ripl app what it is today. They're responsible for developing new features, fixing any issues you have, and plenty more! This week they are sharing some tips to help you get the most out of the Ripl app.

Problem Solving

The development team tries to get back to you as fast as possible when there's a technical issue. Since we're still a small team there can sometimes be a slight delay. Here's some troubleshooting tips to help when your app is slow, not loading, or acting funny while you wait for the Ripl support team to get back to you!

  1. Close all other applications running in the background. When apps are running in the background they're using some of your phones resources. Since it takes a lot of processing power to animate designs in the Ripl app, closing all other applications can help improve performance. iOS users, double tap the home button and swipe up on the applications to quit. Android users, tap "recent apps" and swipe to close the application (for more device specific instructions, see this article)

  2. Check your phone's memory. For best results we recommend at least 1 GB of available space. If you are running low on space try deleting apps you don't use anymore or photos that are stored somewhere else. You can check how much space you have in your phone's settings. iOS users, tap General > Storage & iCloud Usage to see how much is used. Android users, tap Storage.

  3. Restart your phone. Sometimes our phones can hold onto resources in the background unbeknownst to us. Completely restarting your phone can make a huge difference in your phone's performance. iOS users, you can restart your phone by by holding the lock and home button down at the same time for at least 10 seconds until you see the apple icon appear (for iPhone 7 devices, hold the sleep/wake button and the down volume for 10 seconds). Android users, hold the power and volume down button at the same time until you see the screen shut down and the reboot animation comes up.

Little Known Features

These are some hidden features we loved building!

  1. You can swipe left and right under "What to Post Today" for up to a week forward or backward at a time. If today's suggestions don't appeal to your business or you want to plan your posts ahead of time, this is a great feature to leverage!

  2. You can delete un-used designs in the design tray by holding down your finger on the design until it shakes and an "x" appears allowing you to remove the design. This will keep your design tray clean and save time because you can keep most used templates in the tray to easily access. (Note you won't be able to remove the first 8 designs because these are available to everyone)

  3. If you tap and hold down on a photo in the photo picker, you can change the order of the images. This tip will save you time when re-arranging your photos.
